Dry Verge Systems Newbridge
The verge is the edge of a tiled roof at the gable end of a house, the part that runs up the outside line of the roof. Traditionally, it was sealed with mortar, which works well for a few years and then starts cracking, falling out and letting water and wind in. A dry verge system replaces mortar with interlocking, weatherproof caps that perform better.
How a dry verge system works
Plastic or composite caps clip over the end of each tile and lock together along the gable. They are mechanically fixed to the roof batten, so they do not depend on mortar to stay put. The result: a sealed, weather-tight verge that needs no maintenance.
Benefits over traditional mortar
- No more cracking, falling mortar or dropping into the garden
- Fully weather-tight — no wind-driven rain getting under tiles
- Prevents bird and pest entry at the gable end
- Manufacturer guarantees of 10+ years on most systems
- Clean, modern finish in tile-matched colours
